Stepping Stone

The past is a stepping stone not a millstone.

Robert Plant

How can we use Plant’s advice to guide our actions? I’m going to share one word, forgiveness. I’m going to share one more word acceptance. Combine the two and the past will no longer be a hinderance. Instead the past will open doors that lead to your present moment. And once you can live unabashedly in the present the future is your to sculpt.

I lived in the past for a long time. I thought I was forgiving but it was actually shame and resentment bubbling below the surface mixed with unhealthy boundaries. Once I took time to forgive myself and those around me, it began my journey directly into the present moment.

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
