Thinking Through My Fingers

Writing, to me, is simply thinking through my fingers.

Isaac Asimov

This blog is a place where I can think through my fingers. I used to write everything down that I thought – the good, bad, and ugly. I don’t do that so much anymore. I’m trying to become more intentional about my thinking, which makes me more mindful of my writing. I also want the things I share with others to be inspiring, thought-provoking, and authentic.

The thing about writing is that you have to think about how others understand the words you share. Tone matters, the order in which you share information matters, and the information you intentionally withhold also matters. If you share too much, you may lose your audience. If you are too vague, they won’t have enough to connect with. What I’m trying to say is that writing starts as your own thoughts, but in order to share your thoughts with the world, you have to think about the vision your words are creating for them.

What’s important to you as a writer and why?

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
