Home is Where the Heart is

Last week’s blog posts were about Finding Joy. This week’s theme will be about minding your home. Home in this post is a general term environments where we feel a strong sense of connection. I think it’s better we start with a general theme and narrow it down as we go through the week. Here’s a list of different aspects of what makes your home that you should be mindful of.

Material Space

Make sure you have a space of your own. Doesn’t matter how big or small but create space for yourself. Make your space your own responsibility. Make it an expression of yourself. Do creative things to your space that bring you Joy. And remember it is ok to set boundaries for your space!

Social Space

Believe it or not, those you keep around you have an influence on you. Consistently allowing people in your space that bring you down can take away from your energy levels. There’s a lot here. But we’ll talk more about this in an upcoming blog post this week.

Mental Space

Be mindful of the things you’re watching and listening to on a regular basis. Make sure you’re finding things that challenge your thinking and expand your ideas or give you new ones.

Spiritual Space

Not everyone is spiritual but I am so I’m going to add it. I want to always remind myself that my spiritual environment is important to me. I want to be aware of people or places that belittle or degrade my spiritual practices.

Emotional Space

Think about how your feeling when you’re around certain people, listening to certain music, doing a certain activity. If you’re feeling good during and after and it adds to your over all well being…keep doing it!!

Writing Space

It took me some time to understand my writing space. Writing for me overflows into all of these spaces. Writing for me requires material, emotional, social, mental, and spiritual spaces. So minding those things is a big deal for me since I’m a writer.

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
