When you know what you want does it matter how you get it?
What drives us as human beings is desire. It is in our power to get as close to our desires as we can. And it’s imperative to human development to learn how to use our power.
Now before we go on I have to explain something. Desire has gained a negative connotation. The truth is when we focus our minds on our good beliefs and values, our desires come into alignment with those things. Same with bad beliefs and values. Bad as in self-destructive. Good as in increases our well-being.
With that being said, we can return to the question: When we know what we want, does it matter how we get it?
According to my belief system, it matters how I get what I want because integrity is one of my core values. This means I do my best to use integrity, and when I mess up, it is my desire to do my best to correct the matter as soon as possible. When for some reason I cannot live up to that desire, it doesn’t feel good. On the flip side, someone who doesn’t find integrity valuable to them would not have the desire to use integrity, which means they don’t even have the awareness of their lack of it. This is why choosing your circle is so important!
It didn’t matter before but it does now.
We all had that point in our lives where we hadn’t sat down yet and really thought about what our beliefs and values were, when we didn’t have a clear guidance system in place yet, and when we were still learning how to wield our power. Those times should be forgiven. Most times it takes the consequences to learn what you don’t want so you can get closer to what you do want. Now that you do know the impact of your inner belief system and your values, use them to guide you towards what you want.
If this is a review and all if this you already know, then this is a gentle reminder to forgive yourself. You’re doing your best with the tools you’ve been given, and it shows.
