Control

What things are currently within your control?

I was listening to a new podcast about affirmations this morning and the speaker gave us a moment to work through some of our self talk. One of the things that came up for me was that I felt like I had no control so I take my time. There’s no sense of curiosity or urgency for me. I feel like I could plan out every detail and devote a lifetime of hours and still it feels as though I don’t have a sense of completing the task. So I’m not very pumped about it.

So I want think about that some more and find ways that I can still be inspired by curiosity. I remember learning that when we feel out of control, it’s a great exercise to focus on what you can control. That’s the first place I’d like to start.

Here’s a short list of things I can control.

Words of Affirmation -I have more control than I think.

Physical Activity -I can get up and move in nature to spark my inner creative.

My Schedule -I can set aside time that’s just to spark my curiosity

My Thoughts -Avoid negative self talk.

The Company I Keep -I will not surround myself with people who make me feel bad about my art.

This is awesome so far!

Another one that came to mind that we don’t necessarily have control over but we can bring to focus to is our breathing.

There’s so much more. What did you think of while reading my list?

When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
