L’ art pour L’ art

L’ art pour L’art

This translates to Art for Art’s sake. It is an expression that according to Wikipedia means “‘true’ art is utterly independent of any and all social values and utilitarian function, be that didactic, moral, or political. Such works are sometimes described as autotelic (from Greek: autoteles, ‘complete in itself’), a concept that has been expanded to embrace “inner-directed” or “self-motivated” human beings.”

Do we always need our art to have a deep and profound meaning? I don’t think so. I do find joy when my writing has philosophical ties and thoughtful metaphors but at the same time, I love Kawaii and Bee and Puppycat. Even though the latter does have some moral lessons involved, they just bring me joy as they are. It’s ok to create something that simply brings you joy.

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
