Know Thyself.

“Let Them Find You Writing”

Day 2

It all started in yesterday’s post which you can read here.

It’s a new day with new problems, but let’s stick with Know Thyself and see where it takes us.

Writers typically have a pretty good understanding of themselves.

Some humans could easily drift through this life without an ounce of understanding of who they are and what they want. But we writers are not that type of people. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that we want to write. Knowing what you want to do with your life is the best place to start. T. S. Eliot once said, “The only good reason for writing is that one has to write.” I think that’s well said and probably why his name is still around.

We aren’t wandering around wondering what we’re going to do or who we’re going to be.

We are writers who will be writing.

I don’t think writing is really about which genre. The story that sticks, that’s the one. It’s not always the story that screams the loudest. I have a good handful of loud stories that didn’t stick. I have even less that did stick. So we don’t even really need to be worrying about how to start, what genre to start in, what time period, whatever. You just write. That’s all. And that’s enough.

Let them find you writing.

That’s all you need to worry about.

I published Writer’s Quest to inspire writers to start writing and to keep at it. There is such a big world out there, and the impact of your writing, even if small, can make a big difference.

If you’re looking for a reason to finally sit down and write, this is the book for you.

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
