The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid is now available on Disney+, and I can’t wait to watch it! I’m not the biggest fan of The Little Mermaid, but it is a movie that I enjoy. I’m also excited because it’s the live-action version.

The whole idea of “The Little Mermaid” is fun to think about. To desire to be a part of a world unlike your own. What are the things you’d be willing to sacrifice to see your dreams become reality? Your home? Your voice? In “The Little Mermaid,” we get to explore one possibility of what could happen when we attempt to live our dreams. Will Ariel like the world she dreams of being a part of? We have to watch and see as her journey unfolds.

Disney inspires me to keep dreaming even when it feels like everything else is falling apart. “The Little Mermaid” is a great representation of Disney’s values.

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.

  1. I often wonder whether any dream is worth a sacrifice, but that’s probably because I’ve sacrificed so much for art and have gotten little in return. Disney has some great movies. On a side note, I found a horror book about mermaids online. Don’t think I’ll pick it up. I think it’s by Seanan McGuire.
