What’s your Favorite Weather to Write in?

I’m willing to bet that most writers agree the perfect weather to write in is the wet kind.

Initially, this post was going to be about rain, but a cold winter evening in a warm house with soup in a slow cooker came into view. That’s when I had to change my mind.

Rain and snow are the two best times to write.

The rhythmic drumming when it rains helps me relax and ease into my writing brain. The snow is just pretty. I think it’s nice to sit by the window and write when the ground is pure white.

Those two things work, but the other thing is that you can’t be distracted by yard work or all the other outdoor chores.

Bad weather gives you full permission to sit and write.

You should be giving yourself that permission anyway, but that’s another post for another day. What I want to say here is that wet weather doesn’t give you any excuses. What it does give you is permission to stay inside and enjoy an evening filled with writing.

This mindset really gave me a new perspective on winter.

This post is a little biased. What’s your favorite weather to write in?

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
