Finish the Book

“Can anyone see the world exactly as you do?”

These books won’t write themselves. For a long time, I figured meh someone else can finish my work. Until I actually finished my first novel. I realized it was me and only me who could do the job seamlessly and with my life experience. This isn’t about being the greatest writer in the world. This is about expressing yourself through your lens and I guess the next question would be, can anyone see the world exactly as you do?

We are here doing our damnedest to thrive in uncertainty. No one knows when their number is up. No one knows when their loved one’s is either. We occupy this space between life and death, and no one really knows. We need water, earth’s filled with it. We need food, and coincidently or not the world’s filled with that too. And so, all this other fluff is all interesting little games we get to decide which ones we are interested in taking part in. The sad part is some people are born into terrible life experiences. Heartbreaking really. My only hope is that they find some sense of peace in this life.

If you have the privilege to choose the life that suits you, relish in it. Finish your novel. Make your life your art. Give back to those who are less fortunate and let your light shine so the world can see that it’s possible. Do it to remind yourself it’s possible. Do it for the little you who needed someone like you. Do it for the future that might just need that perfect reminder. The one you already have written.

Saschia Jayne Johnson is the author of Writer’s Quest: A Triptych. On her free time, she likes to be with her family outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize it was the search that held what was most important; curiosity." Saschia works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
