For the Love of Learning

Honestly, I’m shocked! I didn’t know I’d ever find it. Before I tell you what I found, let’s talk about learning. Learning is a part of human development. One of my favorite quotes is from Michelangelo: “I’m still learning.” There was a point in my life when I was shocked that someone of his caliber was “still learning.” What do we need to stay in the lifelong learning mindset?

Curiosity is the answer! Now this is no new idea. That’s the whole point, isn’t it? How do we spark our curiosity? Well, as a writer, my curiosity is gold. If I’m not curious, I’m not very fulfilled by my writing. One of the things that I’ve learned that I need to spark the flame is low-pressure environments where I can truly find a love for the topic in my own way. Let me tell you what I found!

This semester, I had 2 professors who created environments where I fell in love with the topics and found my own way to learn the subjects: Astronomy and Abnormal Psychology. Now, I’m no professional astronomer! But my curiosity has been piqued enough to want to keep learning. Psychology I’ve been studying for years, and I have a real heart for the topic. I still want to keep learning!

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
