Writers Life: Onward

“There comes a time in your life when you have to choose to turn the page, write another book or simply close it.” – Shannon L. Alder

I started a short story. It’s boring, and I haven’t really found the purpose yet. I didn’t want to start another story until I finished the novel, but this novel is just taking too long for me to be waiting on. I’m going to multitask at this point. I don’t really have time to be wasting all my energy on one novel; I have a whole lot of creativity in here. Plus, at this point in the editing process, it’s just making sure loose ends get tied, techniques are there, and the story is there.

How’s your writing or editing coming along?

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily on improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.

  1. Hi Jayne, I started a new short story today too. I admire your tenacity at staying the course with your novel. I’ve written mainly poetry and a few short stories over the years. You’ll find your way back to your novel soon! It’s always good to experiment with different genres and forms. Boredom as often a helpful poke in the arm to try something new!
