“The modern artist… is working and expressing an inner world – in other words – expressing the energy, the motion, and other inner forces.” -Jackson Pollock
I’ve spent years trying to figure out how to express the complexities of being human. It isn’t easy. I hope that the collection of thoughts I’ve shared throughout the internet somehow comes together to express the many things life has to offer.
But when considering the novel; it’s difficult for me to incorporate all these things, whether in subtle ways or bluntly., fantastically even. There are just so many ways to bring it all together in one story. There are infinite ways to tell a story too, so it’s just deciding which way fits best. And I’m not too sure yet.
I was working on the last part of the novel today, and I was ready to delete the whole section, which is fine because it’s not the whole book. I’m coming to learn that changing the point of view helps me see what’s worth keeping and what’s worth chucking out the window.
Anyways, I’m happy to be here learning the different ways stories can be shared.
What you’re favorite way to tell a story?
The best way I write is by not knowing how the story ends in advance. That way it’s a surprise to both reader and author. Of course, having an outline to understand characters and thumbnails of plot is important. But leave cracks, leave enough inconsistencies that you’ll slowly weave back into shape at the end.

Thanks, but don’t get too excited! I’m no expert. But I have started working on a couple short stories lately. One might end up being novella length, and I’ve been investing a few days crafting an outline before I dive into the deep end.

That’s awesome! I love a good novella. I’m interested to see where this takes you.

Oh, by the way, that painting on this post of yours, reminiscent of Jackson Pollock, is absolutely breathtaking.

AI did that. It takes a few tries to get the wording for it but I love it when it can create the image in my mind. lol I’m not this talented.

I’ve been using Chatbox AI app, which has an nice image generator. I’ve used it when it’s impossible to find a stock photo that fits the subject. I used it to generate the image for the poem about roadside memorials with candles and crows. But occasionally I get inspired to create my own artwork. Most of the time I use ArtSet app.

I used to create my own. I like picsart. But then I just got focused on getting the words out.
