Drunk on Writing

You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you,

Ray Bradbury

I have committed to this philosophy when it comes to my novel. For a short time, I focused only on formal editing. Grammar, wording, formatting and completely lost touch with my novel. It didn’t feel good to keep working on something I had no connection with. It even caused me to think things needed changing but they were put in the proper place at the proper time. I was just so distant from my story that I was not aware of the flow and timing anymore.

It’s the same for me with anything. If I step away from something for too long, I lose touch with it and I forget why I started doing it in the first place.

So lately I’ve been trying to get myself to work on all my projects daily. Some days I accomplish more one project than others. It works though because even when I’m doing a little bit, it keeps me in the flow. It keeps me in the loop and in the right mindset that will have me ready for what’s to come.

Jayne is a writer. On her free time she likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Jayne works daily improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." and that's what she strives to start with.
