Todays Affirmation: My thoughts, feelings, needs and desires matter.
What an interesting journey this was. I enjoyed taking time to think about the many ways communication is connected to our entire system.
Random Share: I miss reading. I miss that feeling I get from reading words that connect with me like nothing else. I started reading bits of Atomic Habits by James Clear, then The Pragmatic Programmer by Andy Hunt and Dave Thomas, and also listened to The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. These three books gave me a feeling of connection that I haven’t felt in a while. Strange. I hope my books can give people this same feeling someday.
Todays Affirmation: I have the courage to be myself even if others don’t like it.
Only two days left!
This isn’t about blind defiance or shoving your individuality down everyone’s throats. It’s about self-acceptance, about recognizing the unique vibes that that make you who you are and refusing to mute it to fit in.
Day 47 of 50 (We made it this far!! Only 3 days left!) I SPEAK
Today’s Affirmation: When I learn more about who I am, I can express myself more authentically.
I had to bring Google Gemini (aka Bard -Google AI) into this.
There’s definitely a strong argument to be made that authenticity is not a static state, but rather a dynamic process. Here’s why:
Evolving Beliefs and Values: As we experience life, learn new things, and encounter different perspectives, our beliefs and values naturally evolve and grow in depth and complexity. This is simply part of being human and engaging with the world.
Alignment with Evolving Self: If authenticity is about living in accordance with who you truly are, it makes sense that it should adjust as your “true self” evolves through experiences and growth. Holding onto a rigid, unchanging sense of self might not fully represent who you are becoming.
Continuous Self-Discovery: The journey of self-discovery is ongoing throughout life. It’s a process of exploration, reflection, and learning about yourself, your values, and your place in the world. This ongoing process naturally leads to a constantly evolving sense of authenticity.
However, it’s important to add some nuance:
Core Values as Anchors: While authenticity allows for flexibility, there might be some core values that remain relatively stable throughout your life, acting as guiding principles. These can provide a sense of continuity and purpose amidst the natural evolution of your beliefs.
Finding Balance: Striking a balance between embracing change and maintaining a sense of self is crucial. The key might lie in being open to growth while staying true to your core values and principles.
Ultimately, the question of how much authenticity should evolve is a deeply personal one. There is no single “right” answer, and the ideal balance will vary depending on the individual and their unique life experiences.
Today’s Affirmation: I am honest with myself and others.
This one has so many cliche things that go with it. I do think it’s important to remember that honesty means that you are aligning your words and actions with your beliefs and values. It means you can change your words and actions when given new information. Honesty shouldn’t limit you from self exploration or even spiritual exploration. In fact it should inspire you to dig deep to ensure that you are in alignment. Getting closer and closer as you grow.
Todays Affirmation: I convey my intentions with clarity.
This doesn’t come naturally and it takes time for people to trust your intentions. With that being said consistency in your actions will always show your true intentions. One phrase going around is, “When people show you who they are, believe them.”
Todays Affirmation: The more I love myself, the better I express myself.
Today is my favorite by far!! Consistent Self Love is a challenge for me that I’m getting better at, but I also have never made this connection. What an amazing journey this 50 days has taken me. I think I might print this one out and hang it on the wall.
If you knew that loving yourself would lead to greater self-expression, would you make an effort to love yourself more?
Imagine calmly discussing your needs with someone who you can trust. It feels nice right. Think about the things that person brings to the conversation. What is it that they do that puts you at ease and allows you to feel safe enough and worthy enough to share your voice.
Today’s Affirmation: My words have a positive impact.
I do hope the positive words I share, grow and provide nourishment to those who hear them. There’s some really good reasons to share kind and uplifting words. I just want to see us all thriving.
Todays Affirmation: I don’t have to be perfect, I just have to be authentic.
The world will really make you feel like you’re supposed to be perfect. But everything you do including the mistakes you make and how you choose to move forward, makes you who you are. The pace in which you evolve, the way in which you grow, and the way you treat others all add to your authenticity. People learn to trust the person you consistently show up as, make sure you’re showing up as you.
